Early Childhood Education Programs at Easton Country Day School

Activities in our curriculum at Easton Country Day School are designed to maximize each child's individual growth by introducing a balance of intellectual, social, emotional, and physical activities. Our preschool programs explore early learning skills across various areas, including dramatic play, science, and art. We place a strong emphasis on cooperative play, allowing children to practice and understand socially appropriate behavior.

For our three-year-old program, the primary focus is on social development. We provide opportunities that align with developmental goals, ensuring that:

- Children feel positive and secure in an environment away from home.

- They enhance their communication skills, develop relationships with others, and engage in cooperative play.

- They are introduced to a developmentally appropriate variety of preschool skills, such as counting numbers to ten, recognizing shapes and colors, and becoming familiar with their first names and letters, along with basic glue and scissor use.

- They can progress at their own individual pace of learning.

As children learn, Easton Country Day School ensures a secure and nurturing environment with established routines and schedules that promote the holistic development of each child.

Two Day Session - Thursday and Friday 

Half Day Program - 8:30 to 11:30 

Full Day Program - 8:30 to 2:30 

Optional Lunch Bunch - Extended Day Enrichment Program is also offered to the Morning Class from 11:30 to 2:30.

At Easton Country Day School, our Pre-Kindergarten program offers a diverse array of planned activities specifically designed to meet developmental goals and prepare 4-year-olds for success in Kindergarten. The primary focus of our four-year-old preschool program emphasizes the importance of social skills while introducing developmentally appropriate Kindergarten readiness skills. Opportunities for a child's growth and development include: 

- Enhancing communication and social skills. 

- Engaging in activities to learn the alphabet, letter sounds, numbers, and basic math, as well as mastering early writing skills. 

- Practicing individual and cooperative responsibility in the classroom, along with self-help skills and proper manners. 

- Learning to collaborate, share, and live harmoniously within their community. 

- Fostering and nurturing a positive attitude towards learning. 

- Supporting each child in developing at their own individual pace.

Our program features a Three Day Session held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We offer a Half Day Program from 8:30 to 11:30, a Full Day Program from 8:30 to 2:30, and an Optional Lunch Bunch - an Extended Day Enrichment Program available to the half-day class from 11:30 to 2:30.

Kindergarten at Easton Country Day School is a five-day-a-week, full-day program designed to meet developmental goals for young learners. This program includes all the academic skills necessary for success in first grade and integrates enrichment activities across music, art, science, and social studies, similar to our preschool programs. 

We provide opportunities for your child's growth and development aimed at promoting active learning. This approach fosters independence, purposefulness, organization, focus, decision-making, responsibility, and accountability, allowing children to practice real-life social skills. 

Attention to literacy is woven throughout the day with stories, fun language activities involving rhymes and songs, and encouragement of children’s natural interest in sounds and writing—all crucial for developing emerging literacy. 

Our program also focuses on enhancing communication and social skills while building a solid foundation in essential math concepts, including number-related work, geometry, graphing, money, and time. 

Children practice individual and cooperative responsibility in the classroom, develop self-help skills, and learn to use appropriate manners. They will also learn to work together, share, and live cooperatively within the community. 

Lastly, we foster a positive attitude towards learning and allow each child to develop at their individual pace. The five-day session runs from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
